Make an Ofrenda-- Altar

Pick up a kit at MOIFA on Monday, August 2 between 10 am and 2 pm, and get inspired by visiting the 2020 Altar Vision ofrenda by Arthur Lopez in the exhibit #mask: Creative Reponses to the Global Pandemic.

The kits will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

Join us for a Zoom Talk on Masked Heroes: Native American Historical Resilience in the Face of the Pandemic with America Meredith.

America Meredith (Cherokee Nation) is an educator, author, artist, and independent curator, whose curatorial practice spans two decades. She is the publishing editor of First American Art Magazine and associate publisher at Noksi Press, a small, Cherokee-language publishing house.

America Meredith serves on the board of the Cherokee Arts and Humanities Council. Meredith taught early Native American art history at the Institute of American Indian Arts, Cherokee art history at the Cherokee Humanities class, and art history at Santa Fe Community College. She earned her MFA degree from the San Francisco Art Institute and her BFA from the University of Oklahoma. She ran Ahalenia Studios, an alternative art space in Santa Fe from 2009 to 2016.

Folk Art Museum Nite at Railyard Park

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Join us for a free screening of the iconic film, The Milagro Beanfield War at the Santa Fe Railyard in collaboration with AMP Concerts. New Mexico music legend and NEA Heritage Fellow Cipriano Vigil will be on hand to play a few songs before the show.  Look for him as an extra in the movie and on the soundtrack.  This movie is presented in conjunction with the exhibit, "Música Buena: Hispano Folk Music of New Mexico" . Visit  the Folk Art Museum to learn more about Cipriano and New Mexican Folk Music. The Department of Cultural Affairs’ Wonders on Wheels Educators will be on hand with New Mexico Music information and hands-on craft kits to make onsite or take home.

The Santa Fe Railyard movie series takes place on the beautiful Railyard Park Performance Lawn in the heart of the Railyard Park, located at the intersection of Paseo De Peralta and Cerrillos Rd. Directions and parking info are on the Railyard web site. (You can also download a map [JPG] showing all of the Railyard parking and transportation options.)

The Railyard Park Movies series will follow state of New Mexico Department of Public Health orders at the time of this event. Masks are required to be worn to enter the event site and to leave your pod for any reason during and after the event. Capacity and distancing of parties on the lawn will all follow state COVID-19 guidelines. By making a reservation for this event, you agree to abide by any and all event guidelines

  • Chairs and blankets are welcome. No umbrellas, please.
  • Picnics are welcome but NO ALCOHOL is allowed in City of Santa Fe Parks.
  • Well behaved, leashed dogs are OK, but it usually works better to leave your canine companions at home.
